July is definitely one of the top months. Baseball in full swing. Girls can't wear too much clothing. Camping trips to pristine lakes. And, oh yeah, the WSOP Main Event. Shouldn't that matter a little? As for february, I can't really disagree, except that in the desert it has been in the 80's for the last week, and spring training has started. But I'm crediting both of those things to an early march. March, by the way, is month number 1. Or in Settlers terms, like having an 8,6,9 with Brick, Wood, and Ore
Zach, you really gotta try playing with the number chits randomly distributed. I didnt like this at first (and still dont usually play this way) and sometimes you can end up with really lopsided games, but random-random is the way to go. Makes being first to place way less lame, too.
In high school we used to play totally random and it was fine, but I have to say I've probably played well north of 300 games each way (unfortunately far less recently) and I don't mind using the order. Fine with both actually.
I've also always thought that the order was meant to put all four players in pretty even potential shape at the start; and I haven't noticed player 1 in a consistently bad spot. I've found that ports help even that out, but I'll be more on the lookout now...

Is 8,6,9 even possible? I don't think so. And I'll take Brick, Wheat, Ore over your three in 90% of games Spencer.
Maybe where you live July baseball is fun, but in DC we're already 25-70 by then and nearly mathematically out by then.
Best SoC analogy yet.

Total random is best over time; ordered is unfair to the first player.
