Pregaming

Generally when I prepare for a poker tournament I try to get as fired up as possible. I usually get some exercise and listen to inspiring music. I go in there pumped up trying to copy the mindset I have for a big game or track meet. I wonder if this what other poker players do, and I wonder if it is the best way to prepare. Since poker requires no physical effort, it may not make any sense to get pumped up beforehand.

Btw moon, this blog has gone to complete shit. Where are the thought provoking, insightful entries? This blog has nothing more than the top 100 list (which you should save all of us time and energy by posting a big blog with the rest), your dietary habits, nfl observations (only 1/3 are decent, rest of which is basically an aggregation of various nfl newsletter and resources - regardless, that's done now)

This used to be one of the best if not the best blog out there. I'm not hating, simply disappointed since I know you are much better.

In Tunica I have actually been coming in late to each tournament intentionally. I've left for break early and returned late as well until the blinds get too big. It helps me stay relaxed and focused. It removes the anticipation for me which allows me to simply come into a game that is already running and just focus on figuring people out.

I used to do the same thing before rugby, wrestling, football, etc. However, I would think that getting yourself "pumped up" at the beginning of a tournament could be counter-productive as opposed to coming in relaxed and focused. This routine would seem to be better later in the day or after a dinner break when your energy begins to lag.

Dude, Nappy, you can't just throw "of life" onto the end of everything to make it sound deep.

Examples:

Bet you can't eat just one of life.

Say hello to my little friend of life!!

Ok, Jed, You have used two of your life lines of life.

Life is like a box of chocolates of life.

The small cottage of life.

Flight for Life of life.

Darth Vader's lightsaber of life.

Transformers - Robots in disguise of life. (Actually the one is pretty cool)

The Game of Life of life.

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog of life.

A few that do:

Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage of life.

The game of life.

In the poker game of life...

In Limbo and being reviewed by the official of life review board:

Tourney of life

Mary Poppins of life

Byeaaaaad JUDGEMENT of Life

Cheers!
Julian Silvain of life

Purveyor of life

Dude I know exactly what you said - that's why I put it in the "in limbo" section along with Mary Poppins.

I'm gonna suggest we stick with tournament life and leave tournament OF life with Ron Howard on the cutting room floor.

As to the comments being more entertaining than the posts, I couldn't agree with you more. The only blog on the rise these days is NGTHL.
